Paulownia is one of the fastest growing trees on the planet, regrowing from the stump after harvest, and producing light, stable, naturally fire resistant wood.


A wood the world already knows. America is catching up.

Paulownia has been prized across Asia for over two thousand years, in Japanese dowry chests, Korean furniture, and Chinese instruments. Until recently, nearly all commercial supply grew overseas, so American buyers had to import it. We built the U.S. supply chain from the ground up.

Ten to twenty feet, in year one.

A young paulownia can put on ten to twenty feet in its first year, with leaves the size of serving platters that shade out weeds and feed the soil as they fall. Ostrom Climate has confirmed it as one of the fastest growing trees on the planet, and the varieties we grow are considered non-invasive.

Spring belongs to the bees.

Before the leaves arrive, paulownia erupts in nectar rich blossoms that pollinators swarm to. Farmers keep bee boxes in the rows, honey becomes a side income, and the blooms mark the start of each growing season.

A decade, start to finish.

    Planting

    We match cultivar to soil and climate, then plant in spring.

  2. 02

    Establishment

    Years one and two: guards, pruning, and steady water while the roots set.

  3. 03

    Canopy

    By mid cycle the rows close over and the land cools beneath them.

  4. 04

    Harvest and regrowth

    At years eight to twelve the trees come down and grow back from the stump.
